AROUND THE PROVINCE

Honoring a friend of the Lakota
Fr. Peter Etzel, SJ and Fr. Bill Pauly, SJ lead the blessing of the new tombstone at the grave of Fr. Bill McKenney, SJ, former director of Holy Rosary Mission. Jesuits, faculty and staff, and the Lakota people gathered in January for the service at the mission cemetery at the Pine Ridge, SD. The gathering was part of the traditional one-year anniversary of McKenney's death. The memorial included a Mass, fedd, give-away and a Wiping of the Tears ceremony.
Passing the torch
Fr. Warren Sazama, SJ, president of The Jesuit Partnership, meets with Judy Keyes, a Jesuit Partner, and Fr. Richard McGarrity, SJ to discuss future partnership plans. Fr. Sazama has been asked to be vocations director for the Wisconsin Province. Fr. McGarrity will take over as president of the partnership in August.
MUHS dedicates chapel
Fr. Doug Leonhardt, SJ and the Most Rev. Richard J. Sklba, auxiliary bishop of the Milwuakee Archiodiocese, preside over a special dedication Mass which included anointing the new altar in the newly renovated St. Ignatius Chapel at Marquette University High School. The beauty of the old chapel was maintained by restoring the original stained glass windows. Structural changes were made to provide seating for 300. Marquette High is thankful for this new place for worship.
