Jesuit Journeys Fall 2000
Novices give carpenter's life a try
Novices and their directors from the Jesuit Novitiate in St. Paul, Minnesota volunteered for a week with Habitat for Humanity this summer, working on a house-building project sponsored by the Lutheran Brotherhood.
Working alongside parishioners from St. John Neuman Catholic Church in Eagan, Minnesota, the novitiate group helped frame a two-story house from foundation to roof. A Hmong family will occupy the house when it is finished sometime this fall.
The group also helped drywall a second house at the same site that will be home to another family.
While the group was building houses in St. Paul, two other novices traveled to northern Minnesota and volunteered at a camp for handicapped children. |
