Friends, family, Jesuits gather as Associates make promises

James Grummer, SJ, provincial for the Wisconsin Province of the Society of Jesus, blesses their pins during a liturgical celebration that followed two years of formation. Another 22 previously promised Ignatian Associates renewed their promises for 1 or 3 years at the September gathering in the Twin Cities area. The Mass, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in St. Paul, concluded the annual retreat weekend for all associates who came from as far away as Omaha, Cleveland, and Milwaukee to the Franciscan Retreat House in Prior Lake. Fr. Larry Gillick, SJ directed the retreat. Ignatian Associates are lay people who desire to live their lives in accordance with the Gospel. They ground themselves in The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, have a desire to love and serve God (serving especially the more vulnerable in our world), and seek companionship in mission with the Society of Jesus.
