MAGAZINE FEATURES JESUIT ASTRONOMER
MILWAUKEE
– An appearance by Fr. George Coyne, SJ,
at the Jesuit Partnership’s fall event in Milwaukee has resulted
in a six-page feature on the astronomer/priest in the March
edition of Astronomy magazine.
Fr. Coyne is director of the Vatican Observatory in Rome
and its facilities in Tucson where he is also a faculty member
and researcher at the University of Arizona. The feature is
in a question-andanswer format. Editor Dave Eicher
talks about Fr. Coyne in his editorial column, “This Month
in Astronomy. ” The profile gives insight into the
relationship of faith and science.
"The people at Kalmbach Publishing, which prints Astronomy,
co-sponsored Fr. Coyne's talk in which he offered a wide range
of inspiring and insightful perspectives related to his faith
and his understanding of astronomy," says Fr. Dick
McGarrity, SJ. "Representatives of Astronomy magazine
also conducted a comprehensive interview with Fr. Coyne on
a wide range of related topics. We are pleased to have had
a hand in helping him share his perspectives about God and
the universe with a broader audience."
The issue can be purchased at all Barnes and Noble bookstores
and at many newsstands. It can also be ordered on-line at
www.astronomy.com or by calling
